My experience with Lottie and Iconscout

Lottie is a vector animation if in simple definition. JSON file which contains everything loads up with an HTML and shows in a browser the animation, text, vectors, bitmaps. Recently used in web, mobile apps, lightweight and scalable media that can be read and edited even in a text editor. Lightweight is the main factor, especially if illustration has smooth shades, gradients. This is really big problem for a 255 color GIF. And even webM video can't stand nearby, because high quality video is also a very big file for a mobile device with a slow internet. It impacts the comfort of the web visitor and makes mobile app harder to deliver to the final user.

So, the solution is the Lottie format, which can be created with the help of several applications like Rive, After Effects, Figma and other integrations. I've been playing with it when it was called a Bodymovin library and now after it was supported by AIRBNB and called Lottie it's formed a big separate branch, where developers and animators are building marketplaces and active communities. One of these places is Iconscout marketplace. Everything from illustrations to 3d animations can be found here and downloaded by a subscription, like Envato, but more towards vector. It's happened that I've been doing some lottie animations for a lottiefiles website, and then they've moved to the iconscout website and all I could do is just to agree with it. I've applied for a "contributor" option and soon after approval, started to do some simple animations to try how it works.
