After trying Notion for the first time, when it appeared over the internet in 2016 I've thought it's too complex for my tasks, and throw it away. But after starting the blog I've understood that setting repetitive tasks has to be somehow organised and it's needed to track the progress. Many feelancers are constantly stating that they're using Notion and it's a lifesaver. Finally, my defensive wall was destroyed and I've decided to take a closer look to the process.
After checking dozens of templates for freelance CMS, project management, content calendars, etc. It was clear that it's needed to learn basics before I can tune some templates to my needs. Or maybe it's better to create one by myself.
Below is the list of free resources that will help learn basics and some advanced things at least without huge pain. Just time, as usual.
Fundamentals
Thomas Frank
But also I remember him explaining advanced things, worth checking.
Notion tutorials, obviously
Notion for Video projects - Linkedin Course
Paid course on linkedin, but as I've noticed, if you watch the preview and maybe some unlocked videos of the course - the next day linkedin grants the access for 24 hours. Try, maybe it will work for you.
Advanced
If you learned something already and can navigate through the stormy seas of Notion content, you can try the search and find necessary videos to learn specific features.
2hrs Free course for beginners
(can take a day or even more to try it on practice).
Long running video to try some things in gaps between you regular tasks
20 minutes course if you seek for a fast result (around 2 hours to practice in reality).
Examples of free templates for project management
It can be hard to understand the concept and even basics of Notion, but taking real task like workouts or other habbit tracking may help you learn basics much easier. And then you can make a painless transition to some working task or project. Every minute spent on learning Notion will return in the form of organized projects, saved mental health and earned money.
I will continue to check various materials about Notion and will post something interesting later.
